Day 61: Grandpa Checks the Water Pressure

In Seoul, Yerin (B), a university student, shows her grandfather (A), who has come up from the countryside, the studio flat she wants to rent.

Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Still learning Hangul? Tick Romanization to see how each line sounds, but read the Korean first.

Let's not rush. First, let's turn on the taps.
B 물이요? 할아버지, 물은 당연히 잘 나오죠.

Muriyo? Harabeoji, mureun dangyeonhi jal naojyo.

The taps? Grandpa, of course the water runs fine.
A 모르는 소리. 물이 약하면 샤워할 때마다 고생한다.

Moreuneun sori. Muri yakamyeon syawohal ttaemada gosaenghanda.

That's what you think. If the water pressure's weak, you'll suffer every time you shower.
B 어, 진짜 물이 좀 약하네요. 그래도 따뜻한 물은 잘 나와요.

Oh, the water really is a bit weak. But the hot water comes out fine.
A 창문도 열어 보자. 음, 햇빛은 잘 드는구나.

Let's open the window too. Hmm, it gets good sunlight.
B 이제 됐죠? 할아버지, 다리 아프시겠어요. 좀 앉으세요.

Ije dwaetjyo? Harabeoji, dari apeusigesseoyo. Jom anjeuseyo.

Are we done now? Grandpa, your legs must hurt. Please sit down.
A 아직이다. 역까지 같이 걸으면서 시간 재 보자.

Ajigida. Yeokkkaji gachi georeumyeonseo sigan jae boja.

Not yet. Let's walk to the station together and time it.
B 칠 분 걸렸네요. 광고에는 오 분이었는데요.

Chil bun geollyeonneyo. Gwanggoeneun o bunieonneundeyo.

That took seven minutes. The ad said five, though.
A 그 정도는 괜찮다. 계약서에 이상한 게 있거든 도장 찍지 말고 할아버지한테 먼저 보여 줘.

That's all right. If there's anything odd in the contract, don't stamp it; show it to your grandpa first.
