Day 115: Who Cleans the Café at Closing?

At closing time in a café, part-time baristas Eunji (A) and Dahyun (B) start arguing in front of the owner, Mr. Seo (C).

How to study this lesson 4 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Still learning Hangul? Tick Romanization to see how each line sounds, but read the Korean first.
  3. Download the Anki deck below and review it every day. It has every line of today's dialogue. Review earlier decks too when Anki asks you to.
  4. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Korean, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

    Dahyun, am I doing the closing clean-up by myself again today? Are you leaving early again?

  2. B 또라니? 나 어제 설거지 다 하고 갔잖아.

    "Again"? I did all the dishes before I left yesterday.

  3. A 설거지만 했지. 바닥 청소랑 쓰레기는 매일 내가 하잖아.

    Just the dishes. I do the floor and the trash every single day.

  4. C 두 사람, 손님 계신데 목소리 좀 낮춰요. 도대체 무슨 일이에요?

    All right. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, Eunji does the floor and Dahyun the dishes. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, you swap.

  12. A 쓰레기는요? 그게 제일 싫은데.

    What about the trash? That's the worst job.

  13. C 쓰레기는 제가 버릴게요. 저도 마감 때 할 일이 하나는 있어야 공평하잖아요.

    I'll take out the trash. It's only fair that I have a closing job, too.

    You, boss? Eunji, looks like we've got nothing left to fight about.

  15. A 그러게. 다현아, 아까 소리 질러서 미안해.
