Day 49: Is My New Room as Big?

At the kitchen table, a mother (A) and father (B) show their daughter Haeun (C) the floor plan of the flat they are moving to.

Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Still learning Hangul? Tick Romanization to see how each line sounds, but read the Korean first.

Dad, is this the place we're moving to? Where's my room?
B 평면도 봐. 작은 방 두 개 중에 약속대로 하은이가 먼저 골라.

Look at the floor plan. There are two small rooms, and like we promised, you get first pick, Haeun.
C 근데 이 방, 지금 내 방만큼 커? 좀 작은 것 같은데.

Geunde i bang, jigeum nae bangmankeum keo? Jom jageun geot gateunde.

But is this room as big as my room now? I think it's a bit small.
A 응, 지금 방만큼 커. 그리고 창문이 더 커서 환해.

Eung, jigeum bangmankeum keo. Geurigo changmuni deo keoseo hwanhae.

Yes, it's as big as your room now. And the window's bigger, so it's nice and bright.
C 거실은? 거실도 지금 집만큼 넓어?

Geosireun? Geosildo jigeum jimmankeum neolbeo?

What about the living room? Is it as big as the one we have now?
B 거실은 지금보다 더 넓어. 그래서 아빠는 이 집이 제일 마음에 들어.

Geosireun jigeumboda deo neolbeo. Geuraeseo appaneun i jibi jeil maeume deureo.

The living room is even bigger than now. That's why I like this place best.
C 그럼 학교는? 소율이네 집이랑도 가까워?

Geureom hakgyoneun? Soyurine jibirangdo gakkawo?

What about school? And is it close to Soyul's house?
A 학교는 지금만큼 가까워. 걸어서 십 분. 근데 소율이네까지는 버스로 두 정거장이야.

School's just as close as now. A ten-minute walk. But Soyul's place will be two bus stops away.
C 두 정거장? 그럼 이제 소율이랑 매일 못 놀아?

Two stops? So I can't play with Soyul every day anymore?
B 소율이를 새집에 자주 초대하자. 방도 지금만큼 크니까 둘이 같이 자도 돼.

Let's invite Soyul over to the new place a lot. Your room will be as big as now, so you two can have sleepovers.
C 다행이다! 그럼 이 방으로 할래. 창문 큰 방!
