Day 66: Our Sons Stopped Playing Together

At the apartment playground, Jiho's mother (A) and Minsu's mother (B), two neighbours, talk about their young sons.

Hello, Minsu's mom. Has Minsu said anything to you about Jiho?
B 아, 지호 엄마. 마침 저도 말씀드리려고 했어요. 둘이 축구 하다가 싸웠어요.

A, Jiho eomma. Machim jeodo malsseumdeuriryeogo haesseoyo. Duri chukgu hadaga ssawosseoyo.

Oh, Jiho's mom. I was just about to tell you. The two of them had a fight while playing football.
A 어쩐지... 지호가 요즘 놀이터에도 안 나가요.

Eojjeonji... Jihoga yojeum noriteoedo an nagayo.

That explains it... Jiho won't even go out to the playground these days.
B 민수도 그래요. 우리 애도 지호만큼 속상해해요.

Minsudo geuraeyo. Uri aedo Jihomankeum soksanghaehaeyo.

Minsu's the same. He's just as upset as Jiho.
A 혹시 우리 지호가 먼저 잘못했어요?

Hoksi uri Jihoga meonjeo jalmotaesseoyo?

Was it Jiho who started it?
B 지호가 공을 세게 차서 민수가 넘어졌어요. 근데 민수도 화가 나서 나쁜 말을 했어요.

Jihoga gongeul sege chaseo Minsuga neomeojyeosseoyo. Geunde Minsudo hwaga naseo nappeun mareul haesseoyo.

Jiho kicked the ball hard and Minsu fell over. But then Minsu got angry and said some mean things.
A 그럼 둘 다 잘못했네요. 이번 주말에 둘이 같이 놀게 할까요?

Geureom dul da jalmotaenneyo. Ibeon jumare duri gachi nolge halkkayo?

Then they were both in the wrong. Shall we get the two of them playing together this weekend?
B 좋아요. 근데 애들이 먼저 말을 꺼내기 힘들 거예요.

Joayo. Geunde aedeuri meonjeo mareul kkeonaegi himdeul geoyeyo.

Sounds good. But it'll be hard for the boys to be the first to speak.
A 그럼 지호한테 미리 연습시킬게요. "민수야, 미안해. 같이 놀자." 이렇게요.

Geureom Jihohante miri yeonseupsikilgeyo. "Minsuya, mianhae. Gachi nolja." Ireokeyo.

Then I'll have Jiho practise beforehand. 'Minsu, I'm sorry. Let's play together.' Like that.
B 하하, 민수한테는 "괜찮아, 우리 화해하자." 이 말을 가르칠게요.

Haha, Minsuhanteneun "gwaenchana, uri hwahaehaja." I mareul gareuchilgeyo.

Ha ha, and I'll teach Minsu to say, 'It's okay, let's make up.'
A 그럼 토요일 두 시에 민수랑 우리 집으로 오세요. 피자 시킬게요.

Geureom toyoil du sie Minsurang uri jibeuro oseyo. Pija sikilgeyo.

Then bring Minsu over to our place at two on Saturday. I'll order pizza.
