Day 31 of 185

Day 31: The Chatbot Diagnosed Me

At a neighbourhood clinic, Yuna (A), a young office worker who has had headaches for two weeks, sees Dr. Oh (B).

How to study this lesson 4 steps
  1. Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
  2. Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Still learning Hangul? Tick Romanization to see how each line sounds, but read the Korean first.
  3. Download the Anki deck below and review it every day. It has every line of today's dialogue. Review earlier decks too when Anki asks you to.
  4. Spend at least 30 minutes listening to native Korean, for example from the Resources page. It doesn't matter if you don't understand it yet.

Dialogue

Audio recordings are on the way. For now, each lesson is the dialogue with its English translation.

So that's fourteen hours a day. Looking at your eyes, they're very dry and bloodshot.

  10. A 그럼 λ‡Œμ—λŠ” λ¬Έμ œκ°€ μ—†λŠ” κ±°μ˜ˆμš”?

    Geureom noeeneun munjega eomneun geoyeyo?

Geomsa gyeolgwaro bomyeon dareun isangeun eopseoyo. Nuni pigonhago mogirang eokkaega mungchyeoseo saenggineun dutong gatayo.

Judging by the tests, there's nothing else wrong. It looks like a headache from tired eyes and a stiff neck and shoulders.

  12. A 휴, 닀행이닀! 그럼 약은 뭘 λ¨Ήμ–΄μ•Ό λΌμš”?

Hyu, dahaengida! Geureom yageun mwol meogeoya dwaeyo?

I'll prescribe some artificial tears. But the best medicine is rest. For every 50 minutes on a screen, switch it off for 10.

  14. A μ•Œκ² μ–΄μš”. 괜히 κ²λ¨Ήμ—ˆλ„€μš”. 집에 κ°€μ„œ κ·Έ μ±—λ΄‡ν•œν…Œ λ”°μ Έμ•Όκ² μ–΄μš”.

Algesseoyo. Gwaenhi geommeogeonneyo. Jibe gaseo geu chaetbotante ttajyeoyagesseoyo.

Okay. I got scared over nothing. I'm going to go home and have a word with that chatbot.

  15. B ν•˜ν•˜, μ±—λ΄‡ν•˜κ³  μ–˜κΈ°ν•˜λŠ” 것도 ν™”λ©΄ λ³΄λŠ” κ±°μ˜ˆμš”.

Haha, chaetbotago yaegihaneun geotdo hwamyeon boneun geoyeyo.

Ha ha, talking to the chatbot counts as screen time too.
