Day 158: Writing on the Galbi Restaurant Wall

At a galbi restaurant with customers' notes all over the walls, Seoa (C) wants to write one, and her parents, Jiyoung (A) and Kyungmin (B), help her while the meat grills.

How to study this lesson 4 steps

Read the situation under the title. It says who is talking and how they know each other, which decides how politely they speak.
Read the dialogue line by line with its translation, until every line makes sense. Still learning Hangul? Tick Romanization to see how each line sounds, but read the Korean first.

Okay, here's paper and a pen. What are you going to write?
C "가족이랑 왔어요. 갈비가 맛있어요!" 어때?

"Gajogirang wasseoyo. Galbiga masisseoyo!" Eottae?

"I came with my family. The galbi is delicious!" How's that?
B 여기는 다들 짧게 써. "가족이랑 옴. 갈비 맛있음."

Yeogineun dadeul jjalge sseo. "Gajogirang om. Galbi masisseum."

Everyone here keeps it short. "Came with family. Galbi delicious."
C 알았어! 그럼 이것도 쓸래. "아빠가 고기 잘 구움!"

Arasseo! Geureom igeotdo sseullae. "Appaga gogi jal guum!"

Got it! Then I'll write this too: "Dad grills meat really well!"
A 하하, 잘 썼네. 마지막에 "다음에 또 오기!"도 써.

Haha, jal sseonne. Majimage "daeume tto ogi!"do sseo.

Ha ha, nicely done. At the end, write "Come again next time!" too.
C 다 썼어! 근데 벽이 너무 높아. 아빠가 붙여 줘.

Da sseosseo! Geunde byeogi neomu nopa. Appaga buchyeo jwo.

Done! But the wall's too high. Dad, you stick it up.
B 알았어. 자, 여기 붙였어!

Arasseo. Ja, yeogi butyeosseo!

Okay. There, it's up!
A 이제 먹어. 아빠가 진짜 갈비 잘 구웠네.

Ije meogeo. Appaga jinjja galbi jal guwonne.

Now eat up. Dad really did grill the galbi well.
